University of California, Irvine

As Thetas, we invest a lot of time into philanthropy. We love giving back to our communities in as many ways as we can! The service that we participate in ranges from our annual Day of Service event in honor of the birthday of our founder, Bettie Locke to participating in other Fraternity and Sorority weeklong philanthropies. We have participated in breast cancer walks, the OC CASA 5K, and have also volunteered at the Child Abuse Prevention Center. Each sister also does her own part by volunteering at hospitals, participating in beach cleanups, working at non-profits, or even helping out at the soup kitchen. No matter what we choose to do, we do it out of the kindness of hearts.

Our signature Philanthropy events are KATwalk and KAT at Bat. Through KATwalk, we raise money for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), and through KAT at Bat, we raise money for The Theta Foundation. Read more below to see what our philanthropies are all about!

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)

Rock The CASA

For over 25 years, Kappa Alpha Theta has stood with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) to dedicate service to better the lives of foster children. CASA is an association that trains volunteer advocates to work with and help abused and neglected children in the system. As an organization, Theta has donated countless dollars and volunteer hours to support CASA. Our UC Irvine chapter alone has given over $100,000.

As a chapter, we raise money for CASA by putting on our annual philanthropic event called ROCK THE CASA. Fraternities, sororities and other campus organizations, such as FIG, participate and put together performances that are surrounded around a theme! CASA is our biggest philanthropy of the year and we even raised over $10,000 last year alone!

Theta shootout is our second Philanthropic event, we put together this event to raise money for CASA as well. Theta shoot out is a is a huge basket ball tournament between fraternities and other campus organizations. These groups compete against each other throughout the week by participating in small games at our booth and campus wide, buying shirts. Last year we raised about 10,000 for CASA with the help of our participants.
